iPhone 15 price: How much Pro Max, Pro and other models of Apple’s new phone will cost and where to buy them

Apple debuted the iPhone 15 at its launch event on Tuesday, and as expected all four models come with a new USB-C charging port.

While it doesn’t make any difference to the phones’ performance, this switch is one of the most significant changes to Apple‘s latest model. It’s something we’ve known was coming, due to new EU laws around standardisation coming into effect in December 2024 that are designed to cut down on electronic waste, and brings the iPhone in line with other smartphones.

Improvements have been made to processing power, display and battery life, while the new phones are also lighter than the previous model.

Almost as important as the new features, of course, is the price. Here’s how much each model will set you back, and everything else you need to know about the phones.

How much does the iPhone 15 cost?

Apple has announced the following starting prices for the iPhone 15 range:

  • iPhone 15 – £799
  • iPhone 15 Plus – £899
  • iPhone 15 Pro – £999
  • iPhone 15 Pro Max – £1,199

At £799, the standard iPhone 15 actually comes in £50 cheaper than the iPhone 14 cost at launch. The Plus is also £50 cheaper, while the Pro has received a £100 price cut. The only model not to fall in price was the Pro Max, which costs the same as the previous model.

Interestingly, while prices have been cut in the UK, in the US all the models remain the same price as the iPhone 14.

If you trade in your current iPhone at Apple, you can receive up to £715 in Apple credit towards an iPhone 15, depending on the model and condition of the phone you trade in.

When is the iPhone 15 released?

The iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max will be available to pre-order starting from 1pm BST on Friday 15 September from the Apple Store. Phone carrier deals from network providers will also launch on this date.

The phones will ship from Friday 22 September, when they will also be made available to purchase in-store.

What are the features of the iPhone 15?

One of the biggest changes to the iPhone 15 is to its display – the “dynamic island” bezel previously reserved for its larger models now features on all the phones.

When it is sunny, peak outdoor brightness reaches twice the previous level, making the display far more visible, while borders have shrunk even further, to just 1.5mm (from around 2.2mm on current iPhones).

Another notable change is to the casing, which is now made from titanium. This makes the devices fell both lighter and more premium, as well as being stronger and less prone to smudging.

As always, Apple has made improvements to the camera. For the 15 and 15 Plus, Apple says: “A powerful 48MP main camera enables super-high-resolution photos and a new 2x telephoto option to give users a total of three optical zoom levels — like having a third camera.” Portrait mode has also been buffed to make it perform better in low light.

The Pro Max comes with a 5x telephoto lens, making it the most powerful iPhone camera yet, while the A17 Pro chip on both Pro models gives these phones more gaming power.

The Pro models also feature a new Action button that makes the phones more customisable an intuitive. Apple says: “The all-new Action button replaces the single-function switch used to toggle between ring and silent, offering additional options so users can choose between quickly accessing the camera or flashlight; activating voice memos, focus modes, translate, and accessibility features like magnifier; or using shortcuts for more options. A press-and-hold gesture with fine-tuned haptic feedback and visual cues in the dynamic island ensure the new button launches the intended action.”

The iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus will be available in five colours: pink, yellow, green, blue, and black. The iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max will be available in four finishes, including black titanium, white titanium, blue titanium, and natural titanium.
