Are EE and Vodafone down? Network problems hit phone providers as users report issues with calls and signal

Major mobile networks including EE and Vodafone are experiencing issues, with users reporting having no signal and being unable to make calls.

Hundreds of people have logged issues with online outage tracker Down Detector, and are complaining about lack of coverage on social media.

Vodafone has responded to complaints saying the outage is being caused by an EE network issue. It told customers on X, formerly known as Twitter: “We’re aware of an EE network issue that is affecting calls and text message. Their engineering teams are investigating and working to get the services up and running as quickly as possible.”

EE and Vodafone are two of the UK’s most popular mobile networks. They make up the so called “big four” along with Three and O2.

These four phone networks supply the most customers and have the widest coverage in the country. They also support many of the smaller mobile operators by providing them with access to their wider networks.

This means when one of them experiences issues it can have a knock-on effect on other operators.
